Bio
Katie grew up in the Pacific Northwest, specifically playing in the woods outside Olympia WA and biking around Corvallis, OR. She continued her way down the west coast to Ventura County for undergrad. Katie studied music and worked in outdoor recreation in the summers, choosing an outdoor education internship in Alberta, Canada after graduation. She worked outdoors in several western states, teaching positive risk taking and facilitating communication through challenge course and high ropes events.
Katie went back to school for Speech Language Pathology, working in elementary school settings as a para-educator, ABA registered technician, and trainer for behavior/special needs children in outdoor recreation along the way. She came to CU Boulder for her MA-SLP and enjoyed clinical placements around the Denver and Chicago, specifically in the areas of feeding, hearing loss, stuttering, and social communication. Colorado is home now, but Katie will take any opportunity to remind you that it’s much harder to ski and surf in the same day here.
